Tax. Import VAT at the German reduced rate for tea (7 percent), recoverable as input tax for VAT-registered businesses. An EORI number is required to import.
OUR READING AS AN EXPORTER, CHECKED 2026-09-14. CONFIRM WITH YOUR BROKER BEFORE YOU QUOTE A CUSTOMER.- EU pesticide MRLs are stricter than Japan's for a few compounds; we send the current residue report with each lot and can test to EU limits on request.
- Organic lots need a Certificate of Inspection (COI) raised in TRACES before arrival and an importer registered with a German organic control body (Öko-Kontrollstelle); we raise the COI.
- Your business needs an EORI number for customs; the courier or broker clears the shipment against the commercial invoice, packing list and COA.
- Retail labelling follows EU FIC rules in German; bulk bags for your own drinks are exempt.
