Duty and tax
Duty. Unflavoured green tea (HTS 0902) carries a standard duty of zero; flavoured green tea is 6.4 percent. The additional country-level surcharges on Japanese goods changed several times in 2025–2026, so confirm the rate in force on the day of arrival with your broker, or buy DDP from us and the quote is the landed price.
Tax. No federal import VAT. State sales tax does not apply to wholesale purchases for resale with a resale certificate.

- Our facility and the mills are FDA-registered; we file the FDA Prior Notice for every shipment and put the confirmation number on the documents.
- You, as importer of record, keep an FSVP file: supplier identity, a hazard analysis for matcha, and the mill's certificates and per-lot COA, which we send with every order.
- Organic lots ship with an NOP Import Certificate raised by the JAS certifier, required since March 2024.
- Residue: the US enforces EPA tolerances and a few compounds used legally on Japanese tea have none, so we offer residue-tested lots for the US.

Before you order
Is there import duty on matcha in the US?
The standard duty on unflavoured green tea is zero. Country-level surcharges changed repeatedly in 2025–2026; confirm with your broker or buy DDP.
Do I need an FDA licence to import matcha?
No licence. The Japanese facility must be FDA-registered (ours are), a prior notice must be filed for each shipment (we file it), and you keep an FSVP file with the supplier's certificates.
How long does matcha take to arrive from Japan?
Four to seven days by courier from Osaka to any US city. Sea freight for 100 kg and up takes three to four weeks to the West Coast.
