Duty and tax

Duty. Green tea (CN 0902) is duty-free into the EU.

Tax. Import VAT at the Dutch reduced rate for food (9 percent), recoverable for VAT-registered businesses. An EORI number is required; Dutch importers often use the Article 23 licence to defer import VAT.

Paperwork for the Netherlands

EORI number; the courier or forwarder clears against the commercial invoice, packing list and per-lot COA.
Organic lots need a Certificate of Inspection in TRACES before arrival and an importer registered with Skal; we raise the COI.
Residue report per lot; EU-scope testing on request.
Distributors serving other EU countries: one clearance in Rotterdam, then free circulation across the EU.
